After four years of (on and off!) development, I can proudly introduce my very own Table Top Roleplaying game to the world. Mistveil TTRPG! Don't worry if everything I just wrote makes no sense, I'll explain.
Tabletop Roleplaying games (think Dungeons and Dragons) allow you to create characters and go on adventures to save the world or whatever the story is. Unlike a video game, you can do pretty much anything you can come up with as long as it fits in the game world and the Game Master (person running the game\ referee) agrees. That being said, many of the more popular systems of Tabletop Roleplaying Games (TTRPGs) take hours to play and can be quite a slog waiting for your turn. So I began looking for systems that were quicker to play, and while many of them were really good, I came to realize that if I was going to have the perfect system for what I needed.....I'd have to make it.
So the elevator pitch for Mistveil would go something like this: Player Characters (PCs) live in a high fantasy post-apocalypse where a purple Mist has ravished the land for years coming in seemingly random storms and turning everything it touches into twisted monstrosities. PCs are some of the brave that travel outside protected cities going on adventures, uncovering mysteries, and trying to make the world a better place (or not, that's an option!) while at the same time navigating a dangerous world that not even the gods could save.
Mistveil's strengths come from light rules that still manage to cover most things you would need in a game, combat is fast and fun, and I personally really like the simple (but fun!) Species and Classes to pick. There are 5 core Species and 3 core Classes aka what you look like and what you're good at doing. |This simplicity is also its weakness, this game is built on storytelling not building an unkillable, overpowered warrior. I don't consider that a weakness but power gamers beware!
The last thing I want to touch on in this post is the content you'll see on this blog. I am an avid fan of solo roleplaying (yes, extra nerdy I know but fun) so there will be plenty of excerpts on this site to to enjoy if that's your thing. I will provide posts about updates and features of the Mistveil system and maybe some actual liveplay, we'll have to see on that!
